Filament is where a Bambu printer actually lives. Our take, line by line: PLA Basic is the default for a reason: it prints at full speed on every Bambu machine, the RFID tag auto-loads the right profile in the AMS, and the color range is the widest. PLA Matte hides layer lines and looks more finished, at the cost of being a little more brittle. PETG HF is the one we point RC and functional-part people at: it prints nearly as fast as PLA (HF = High Flow), takes the heat a car interior throws at it, and flexes instead of snapping. ABS and ASA want an enclosed printer (P- or H-series); ASA is the outdoor pick because it shrugs off UV. PLA-CF / PETG-CF give stiff, matte, professional-looking parts but chew through standard nozzles, so budget a hardened steel nozzle. TPU is for tires, bumpers and phone cases; run it from the spool holder or an AMS HT, not a standard AMS. Buy Support for PLA/PETG once you have multi-material: supports fall off clean.
Editor’s picks

Best all-round functional filament: PLA speed, real heat and impact tolerance.

The everyday spool. Cheapest per kg, widest colors, RFID auto-profiles.

Best-looking prints straight off the plate; great for display pieces.

Tough, machinable, heat-resistant, for enclosed P/H-series printers.
